BBC World News is an International English news station owned by British Broadcasting Corporation through its subsidiary BBC Global News Ltd. The channel was initially launched as BBC World Service Television on March 11, 1991 before getting rechristened as BBC World and BBC World News in January 1995 and on April 21, 2008 respectively.
BBC World News has the largest network of reporters, correspondents and bureaus as compared to any other national or international station. The station was initially set up without any grant from British government. After two weeks of pilot broadcasts and test signaling the station was launched on March 11, 1991. Johan Ramsland and John Exelby were program and managing editors for the newly launched news service. The service in January 1995 was partitioned into two separate channels today known as BBC World News and BBC Entertainment.
It started with the limited use of graphics in an old-fashioned studios airing small bulletins, current affairs stuff, documentaries and more. The first major revamp was made with the launch of BBC News 24 on Nov 9, 1997. This followed other changes in them music, refreshed and new graphics from years 2003 to 2008. In January 2013 it shifted to Broadcasting House in Central London after a long settlement in BBC Television Centre. The makeovers also included 16: 9 format delivery in January 2009 and high definition broadcasts in August 2013 and April 2015.
Mostly received by the FTA audiences, the channel is claimed to be watched by more than 74 million people in 200+ countries. Viewers in United States can receive the station through Verizon FiOS, Cablevision, AT&T U-Verse, Comcast, Spectrum and other services. Distribution and advert sales of the TV since 2014 are managed by AMC Networks. Sling in June 2016 partnered with BBC World News for the online streaming of channel in U.S. It cannot be accessed as a standalone station in United Kingdom and Ireland, However due to the free-to-air availability of it through a number of European satellites, audiences can receive the station in UK via Astra, Hot Bird and others. Simulcasts of the news edition, World Business Report, and a couple others are also shared by the siblings of the World service.
Audiences can have bbc news live streaming with latest national and international news, sports, business stories, current affairs programs, podcasts, videos, documentaries, interviews, lifestyle, tech, entertainment and cultural programming and more. You may also listen to World Service radio on the same site. Here is the website: http://www.bbc.com/news/world.
