Mexican Border Might Shut Due to Migration Surge – Trump

The American President Trump said that if the officials of Mexico don’t take encouraging steps to stop the migrations towards the U.S., they will likely to close the border of the United States. Border crossing will disrupt it will cost billions of dollars in trade. Trump gives the threat because of the flow in migrants coming from Mexico to pursue asylum in the United States. The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that he had to face this issue. The Foreign Minister of Mexico Marcelo Ebrard tweeted that Mexico was a good neighbor to the United States and it would not proceed on threats basis.

Donald Trump’s Statement

On Friday the U.S. president expressed to reporters that he is going to close the border in the coming week and he is happy with his decision. Furthermore, he criticized the Mexican authorities that it was very comfortable for them to stop the coming people; however, they didn’t do this right thing.

The reaction of Mexico on Trump’s Threat

On Thursday, Mexican president Obrador stated that the matter of migration was not up to the people of Mexico. Furthermore, he reported that the problem relates to Central American countries instead of Mexico.  President said that many of the migrants are occupants of their fellow Central lands of America. In Trump’s tweet reaction, Obrador while conveying to his supporter’s crowd that he wants to make it clear to his people that they are not going in any risk to quarrel with the government of United States. They are only the seekers of love and peace; on the other hand, also he said migration following human rights. Also, he told that the people living in Central America are looking for ways to earn better living and they don’t have any other options.

The Reason behind Trump to close the border

Kirstjen Nielsen, Homeland Security Sectary, said that the patrolling staff at the border overloaded due to the increase in the number of migraters seeking asylum. They feel insecure in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Officials from DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) said that in March the apprehensions at the border are expecting to the highest of the decade such as 1 lac. More than one thousand unaccompanied children are between those who are now in custody. Ms. Nielson gives the warning to Congress that the United States faces a system-wide meltdown as they are making their efforts for the 6,600 families who migrated and currently in custody.
