Apple updated Siri in US to assist users in checking if they have COVID-19

The users of the iPhone who are thinking about whether they have novel coronavirus or not, for them, Apple now update its Siri app to assist them. The tech giant updated its voice assistant to guide the user’s step-by-step inquiry form if they ask the app, “Hey Siri, do I have the coronavirus?” Apple releases the update on Saturday for its users in the United States.

Siri will ask users with different questions whether they are demonstrating the symptoms of the COVID-19, such as: If they have

  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dry cough

Siri will also advise users who say they have life-threatening or extreme signs of the epidemic to consider calling 911. Whereas, if people say they have not severe symptoms, Siri advises people to stay home and avoid socialism and contact others. It also advises users to contact a remedial if their conditions become more serious.

It also provides people with a link in the Apple Store to download and install telehealth apps and possibly receive virtual health consultations regarding COVID-19 outspread. According to Apple, the United States Public Health Service responds to the questions of the users with the best possible answers. Basically, PHS is a division of the Department of Health & Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

Siri Update will only assist the U.S. users

Apple launched the service specifically to guide the users in the U.S. While, the tech company didn’t tell if, or when, they expand the service globally. A spokesman of Apple didn’t share additional information about the changes. Apple is not only a single tech company that prepared its resources to back and assist health officials respond to the international outbreak, which until now infected over three lac people all over the world.

Earlier this week, Facebook said that it planned to introduce a health information center about the COVID-19 that will show along with the news feed of users. It boosts people to take seriously social distancing. Similarly, Google debuted its much-anticipated website on Friday intended to provide information about new coronavirus.
