He further said that there is no immediate danger as people have safe passage by air or by road. A Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly member, Rylund Johnson, added that people had already been evacuating the city voluntarily, and there are now orders to do so by Friday noon.

Rylund wrote on social media that Flights will start by Thursday afternoon. This scenario is totally new for the Canadian state as it is the worst wildfire they have seen.

Fire Is About 17 Km Away From The City

The government is using a considerable amount of resources to extinguish the fire as soon as possible, and fire blazes have taken several lives and burned a vast area. Recently a firefighting helicopter crashed while the service and killed the pilot. Shane Thompson added the fire burning in the west of Yellowknife presents a real threat to the city and announced the orders of the evacuation of 20000 people by Friday noon by road or by air.

Authorities claimed that they had not seen so many vehicles leaving the city together like this, and people were leaving on their own. Officials have said that there are all kinds of rumors out there but don’t panic, be calm and be ready to evacuate. Yellowknife is a city of 20000 population and situated 400 Km south of the Arctic Circle. Canadian Prime Minister Vowed To Help In Firefighting

Canada’s Military is also coordinating airlifting operations in Northwestern territories’ South Slave region, endangered by wildfire in recent days. The current airlift operations being performed in the area are the largest in the territory’s history. Most people have headed to the neighboring province of Alberta, but there is no clear indication of when they will be allowed to return to their homes. Going back definitely depends upon how quickly fire is extinguished in the area. A big area is under evacuation orders, including Fort Smith, K’atl’odeeche First Nation, Enterprise, Jean Marie River, and Hay River.

NWFT Fire added that Yellowknife is at risk, and teams are trying their best to slow the fire spread and protect the citizens. An emergency was declared on Tuesday in Northwest Territories, and Canadian Military is also active in saving the citizens, taking them to a safe place, and helping fight the blazes. Northwest Territories Premier Caroline Cochrane talked to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday and discussed the current blazes situation in the region. Prime Minister reaffirmed the surety to help in fire fighting in the area.
