The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) took the view that Donald Trump, the former American President, hasn’t handed back all the White House records in possession, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The outreach shows that the former President might possess the critical files even after the FBI’s unprecedented search of his Mar-A-Lago estate in August.
According to media reports, the outreach from the Chief at Counterintelligence and Export Control Section – Justice Department, Jay I. Bratt, is the solid indication so far that inquiries remain cynical that the ex-US President has been fully supportive of Department’s efforts to retrieve records Trump was supposed to have produced to the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) when he left the White House.
According to the NYT report, Mr. Bratt contacted Donald Trump’s attorneys regarding the matter. As part of his outreach, the head of the Justice Department’s counterintelligence operations has necessitated the hand back of all classified documents that Mr. Trump is still keeping with him, according to CNN reports.
Furthermore, at least 325 classified documents have been obtained from Donald Trump’s Florida home thus far, according to media reports. And more than a hundred of those documents were taken from Trump’s home by the Federal Bureau of Investigation during its unprecedented search in August.
Capitol Attack Panel Reschedules the Date for its Next Hearing
The January 6th Select Committee probing the attack on the United States Capitol Hill has rescheduled its ninth and possibly the last public hearing for 13 October at 01:00 PM, when the panel would attempt to refocus the nation’s attention on the ex-President’s unprecedented efforts to tilt the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.
Recently, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, Chair of the Jan. 6 Committee, said that he anticipates the upcoming session to be the committee’s first without live witnesses. However, Mr. Thompson pledged the Congressional panel would present new revelations regarding the Capitol assault and the events around January 6, 2021. He told the media correspondents at the US Capitol that the panel still has substantial information they haven’t publicized.
Additionally, the Select Panel could incorporate testimony of Ms. Ginni Thomas, the spouse of the SC Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, who pressed to tilt the outcomes of the recent Presidential election. Last week, she appeared before the inquiry panel and said she didn’t discuss the operations with her husband.
