Stay at Home orders from the governors of 42 states
In an effort to stop the prevent of the novel coronavirus, the governors of forty-two U.S. states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, issued orders “stay-at-home” to advised citizens to stay inside rather than to do crucial work, jobs or to perform other bessential responsibilities.
Those orders at governors’ level, along with the federal social distancing guidelines and restrictions to mass gatherings, all these factors combined to halt the economy of the world’s largest economy. According to the U.S. Labor Department, over 16.8 million individuals applied for unemployment insurance since the March middle, after the implementation of the federal government coronavirus guidelines.
According to the Friday afternoon statistics of Johns Hopkins University, there were over 4,85,000 positive cases of coronavirus in the United States, with over eighteen thousand COVID-19 deaths. Over forty percent of the deaths in the U.S. occurred in New York state, as it reported 777 new deaths just on Friday.
Trump is consulting health experts when to roll back restrictions
On Friday, Trump said that he would continue to consult health experts on the current coronavirus scenario, experts such as Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci in consideration when to relax the federal restrictions guidance. However, health officials warned that if the U.S. ends the restrictions too rapidly, infected case levels may start to rise once again, especially without epidemic testing to find the virus carrier individuals.
Trump said that he used to listen to these health experts about everything. He ensured that they don’t do anything until the confirmation of the country on a healthy path because they don’t want to go back and start doing from zero again.
However, COVID-19 causes minor or modest symptoms for many people, whereas, for some such as older people or individuals with existing health problems or weak immune systems, it can cause severe illness or death to them. Also, the study reveals that individuals can be highly infectious even if they are not showing symptoms of the virus.
Dr. Fauci, the primary infectious-disease expert of the United States, told CNN that after the relaxation of the restrictions, the country would face more new coronavirus cases. He said whenever they decide to roll back the restrictions at an appropriate time, and undoubtfully the country will face new cases. The question to concern is that how the nation responds to them.
Trump extends COVID-19 social distancing advisory until 30th April
