Air raid sirens sounded in Ukraine’s western, central, and eastern regions as the airforce warned of a severe Russian air attack that hit Ukraine’s western region of Lviv and the northwestern areas of Volyn. That was a big attack by Kremlin forces that hit buildings, caused several injuries, and forced many civilians to evacuate, Kyiv officials claimed. On Tuesday, Lviv’s Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed on the Telegram app that many missiles were shot down, but some hit the buildings, causing injuries. He added that they ordered to evacuate at least one building.
Andriy Sadovyi further expressed that four people were injured and required medical assistance, and the attack damaged more than 100 residential apartments, including a Kindergarten. Kindergarten was destroyed by the falling debris from a destroyed Russian missile. Lviv region’s governor, Maxim Kozitsky, said many Kremlin missiles were heading toward the region. Ukrainian local authorities also expressed on Telegram that Russian air attacks injured civilians in Lutsk. Lutsk is in Volyn’s region in the north of Lviv and borders Poland.
The governor of Ukraine’s southwestern region of Dnipropetrovsk, Serhiy Lisak, said on Telegram that at least one person was also wounded after the Russian attack. The attack hit an enterprise, and a fire broke out. Air raid alerts were all over Ukraine for almost two hours.
Lviv region is far from the frontline of the Ukraine war and was safe from many massive Russian attacks until July. This region borders Poland and, in July, was hit by a Kremlin attack that destroyed a residential building and killed seven people. It is also reported that the Russian air strike on Tuesday was the most significant attack on the Lviv region since the start of the Russian full-scale invasion.
US Announces A New Assistance Package For Ukraine
White House Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine. The package includes air defense munitions, anti-armor capabilities, artillery rounds, and mine-clearing equipment. The aid is worth $200 million and comes from presidential drawdown funds, and this money remained from the previous assistance packages due to some accounting errors by the Defense Department.
Blinken stated that Kremlin started this war and could end it by withdrawing its forces from Ukrainian territory and stopping its brutal attacks. He warned Russia to stop its invasion of Ukraine, and if Kremlin denies it, then the United States and all its allies and friends will continue to support Kyiv in its war and stand with it as long as it takes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the US and President Biden for their extended support in the war against Kremlin. Zelensky tweeted on Monday that air defense missiles, anti-tank weapons, artillery ammunition, mine clearing systems, and anti-tank weapons will strengthen the Ukrainian forces to fight against Russian forces.
Ukraine Is Struggling A Lot To Recapture Its Lost Territory
On Monday, Hanna Maliar, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, said that Russia is still invading in the east and making its offensive stronger near the cities of Kupiansk and Lyman. Mailer said on a Telegram post that there had been a decrease in the number of attacks and use of ammunition in the east, but it doesn’t mean that the enemy has stepped back from its plans. She added that Russian forces have been trying to recover from the loss they faced, but the fight continues. She expressed that the Ukrainian defense system and troops have managed to stop the enemy’s advancement in the region and have reduced their attack potential.
There has been a continuous fight near Bakhmut city as the enemy is trying to regain the lost areas which Ukrainian forces captured back. Ukraine has fought too long and managed to recover almost three more square Kilometers near the Bakhmut area and a total of 40 square Kilometers. Mailer added that Ukrainian forces are conducting offensive operations in Melitopol and Berdiansk regions.
